Tips on Recording a Town Hall
1) Find out if there are any upcoming town halls or health care related events in your area by contacting your representatives. Use this tool if you need to determine who your representatives are - once you click on a representative's name click the 'Contact' tab to find out how to reach them.
President Obama is sponsoring events as well. You can find a list of events in your area by entering your zip code here.
The Republican National Committee is also sponsoring some events. Click on your state here to contact your local Republican Party office.
2) When you arrive at the event, look or ask where the audio will be coming from - set up your camera as close to the audio speakers as possible.
3) Use a tripod if possible. Make sure you're not blocking a walkway.
4) Bring an extra battery for your camera.
5) Always bring one more tape than you think you'll need.
6) Avoid backlighting if possible. This is when there is a strong light source behind the subject of your video. Example is a bank of windows with the sun coming through - change the angle of your position so there is a wall behind the subject of your video.
